Batsmen to score 6 consecutive sixes

Hitting a six in a cricket match means batsmen is really in good touch and has played the ball really well. What would you say about a batsmen who had 6 consecutive sixers in a match. These is a very rare achievement and only a handful of cricketers has for the ability to do so. Listed below are the batsmen who have scored continuous six sixes in the history of cricket.

Batsmen who hit six sixes in an over world cup match

This is a very rare achievement and the ony batsmen to achieve this is the great opening batsmen of South African cricket team. Yes we are talking about Herschelle Gibbs, he hit six sixes of 6 balls of an over in the world cup 2007. It was the group stage match of world cup played between South Africa and Netherlands. Only few know that one million US Dollars were raised for charity as one of the sponsors was commited to do so if six sixes are hit in the match.

Batsmen to hit six sixes in an over of T20 match

The same year 2007, during the T20 world cup, again 6 sixes were hit in an over. This time the batsmen was Yuvraj Singh from India and the sixes were hit in the over by Stuart Broad  of England.

Batsmen to hit six consecutive sixes in first class cricket

It was the year of 1968, when first time in the history of cricket six sixes where hit by a batsmen in a single over. The batmen to do so was Sir Garfield Sobers. It was a dramatic over and in one ball of the over fielder caught the ball but touched the boundary ball thus ending as six. It was a game between Glamorgan and Nottinghamshire. Sobers was the captain of the Nottinghamshire and sixes were hit of
Malcolm Nashand fielder to touch the ropes while he took the catch was Roger Davis.

16 years later the record of Sir Garfield Sobers was broken by Ravi Sastri. It was a Ranji Trophy match between Bombay and Baroda.

Other batsmen to hit six sixes in an over

Kieron Pollard and Jordan Clark  has also achieved this feat but in lower lever of cricket like the club matches. Still this doesn't devalue the quality of the innings both the batsmen played that day. Hitting six sixes in an over at any level of cricket be it street level to the top level is an proud achievement.

Do you any other batsmen who have achieved this rare target of hitting six sixes in an over. Do share with us.

The two teams competing in the IPL eliminator match today are Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both the teams have played good T20 cricket and the match is going to be a close encounter. Orange & Purple cap holder in IPL 2015

Who holds the Orange cap in IPL

Who holds the Purple cap in IPL

Every IPL the most exciting thing to know apart from the match results and points table is who is holding the orange and purple cap currently in IPL. The orange and purple caps keep rotating heads throughout the season and in the end the deserving bowler and batsmen get the caps.

What is orange cap in IPL?
The orange cap is awarded to the batsmen who is the leading run scorer in the IPL. When each team has played a match the orange cap is given to the batsmen with most runs and he fields wearing that orange cap. If some other batsmen run tally in the tournament get past the current hold or orange cap, then the cap belongs to him. Thus the orange cap keeps rotating heads throughout the tournament and then then finally the orange cap winner in decided in the closing ceremony.

What is purple cap in IPL?
Like the orange cap the purple cap is for the leading wicket taker. The bowler with most number of wickets in IPL holds the cap until someone has more wickets than him.

IPL Matches Today - Live Score Updates

21-April-2015: Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals at Ahemdabad Today. Might be a change in ground could bring a change in fortune for Kings XI team.  A win a what Punjab team needs badly at this moment. However they are facing a team today, which is still undefeated in IPL 2015.  Rajasthan Royals are just playing very good T20 cricket at the moment and they have got all the thing at right place. Punjab on the other hand despite being  filled with talented and big name players and still to get the combination right. They are experimenting too much and I guess they should just keep the things simple and play batsmen in a role that suits them better.

20-April-2015: Today KKR will play against Delhi Daredevils. The DD team has got the momentum they have been missing so  far in IPL. They are now at 4 position in points table and a win today will ensure they will replace KKR team who is at number 3 positions. And if they win the match today with a better run rate the Delhi team might also replace CSK who is at number 2 in points table.

15-April-2015: 13:18 IST:
Today match is between the tournaments favorites Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils. The Punjab team has a very good performance last year and prior to that the Punjab team performance in IPL was almost similar to the opponents today. The Delhi Daredevils team has not got a good season in the history of IPL. This year the team has invested heavily and purchased Yuvraj Singh at a huge amount. Now its for Delhi team players to show that performance. The match begins at 8 pm at Pune and its most likely that Delhi is goind to loose this match. Lest wait and watch. Good luck to all.

Date: 13-April-2015 Time: 13:25 IST

Glimpses of our posts in IPL 7
Yesterday Kings XI Punjab showed a great performance and posted 195 runs as target for Rajasthan Royals team. In the end Rajasthan Royal team managed to score 147 runs only and loosing the game by 48 runs. At one time it was looking that Kings Eleven Punjab will post a total of more than 200 or 225+ but last 5 overs they managed to score some 30 odd runs only, still the target was out of reach for the Rajasthan Royals team lead by Shane Warne.

Today we have 2 matches to be played in IPL. First match will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Kolkata and the second one will be played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at Mumbai.

Kolkata Kinght Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore: This is the first time in IPL history that Kolkata team is looking strong in papers and the fields both, otherwise right from the beginning of the IPL Kolkata team has looked stronger in the papers but ended in the bottom of the points table. This is the first time that team looks to be doing good in points table as well. As far as the todays match is concerned its Royal Challengers team which would be more under pressure to win the match they are already in the bottom 2 of the points table and they need a couple of wins badly to make a comeback in the tournament. Kolkata on the other hand are at the top of points table but they lost the last match to Kochi Tuskers, thus they need to win this match so as to remain in the top of the points table.

Mumbai Indians Vs Chennai Super Kings: Mumbai Indians lost to Chennai Super Kings in the finals of the last year IPL and this time Mumbai must be looking forward to beat Chennai, this win can make Mumbai Indian secure the top position in points table, where as Chennai if wins can make into the top 4.
